Finland Beneficial Owner Notification 2026
Guide to reporting and keeping actual beneficial-owner details up to date with the Finnish Trade Register.
Short answer
Finnish limited liability companies and co-operatives must report their actual beneficial owners to the Trade Register and keep the details up to date. The notification is free of charge and must be filed even where the company has no identifiable beneficial owner or does not know who the beneficial owners are. Failure to comply can lead to reminders, negligence fees and ultimately deregistration/liquidation procedures. In 2026 the normal filing route is the YTJ online service.
1. Who must file?
Limited liability companies and co-operatives are subject to the obligation. Private traders do not file. Up-to-date board details do not replace the beneficial-owner notification.
2. When details change
If ownership or control changes, the beneficial-owner details must be updated. A change from 'no beneficial owner' to an identifiable owner also requires an update.
3. Consequences of non-compliance
Checklist
- PRH reminder
- Negligence fee
- Risk of deregistration
- Risk of liquidation order
- Delays in KYC/banking
Common questions about this topic
If the company has no beneficial owner, can it skip the filing?
