Finland Company Insolvency and Bankruptcy 2026

Decision guide for insolvent companies: bankruptcy, restructuring and director responsibilities instead of voluntary liquidation.

    Sources checked · 2026-08-24Reading time · 27 min

    Short answer

Voluntary liquidation is designed for a solvent company closure; where the company cannot pay its debts, bankruptcy or restructuring must be considered separately. PRH specifically directs insolvent limited companies to bankruptcy proceedings. When insolvency signs appear, the Board should monitor cash flow, due debts, tax/employer obligations and equal treatment of creditors closely; selective or unlawful payments can create personal-risk issues.
