    Finland Employer Register 2026

Guide to regular vs casual employer status, registration thresholds, no-wages reporting and deregistration.

    Sources checked · 2026-08-24Reading time · 21 min

    Short answer

Regular employers must register in the Employer Register. Vero considers a company regular if it regularly pays wages to two or more employees; one regular employee plus temporary employees; or at least six employees simultaneously even where the jobs are short-term. A casual employer may not need registration in limited cases, but wages paid must still be reported to the Incomes Register.

    1. Regular-employer criteria

    Checklist

    • Regularly 2+ employees
    • 1 regular + temporary employees
    • At least 6 employees simultaneously

    2. Casual employer

A company may be casual where it has only one regular employee or one to five employees whose employment does not last the full calendar year. Wage-reporting duties still apply.

    3. Deregistration

If wage payments stop or the company becomes only a casual employer, deregistration should be reported through MyTax/YTJ. Obligations continue up to the end date.
